Tavo Silveira Prize Winner Huge Polychrome Incised Mata Ortiz Pottery

Tavo Silveira is one of the shining stars amongst the second generation potters of Mata Ortiz. Tavo is a multi award winning artist, who has also won the top Galardon (Best in Show) prize in the pottery competition sponsored by the municipal government in Mata Ortiz. Tavo consistently crafts some of the best work coming out of Mata Ortiz, and I am truly excited and proud to be able to offer some very fine examples of his work!

This gorgeous Huge masterpiece received a first-place finish at the last concurs in Mata Ortiz (ribbon accompanies purchase). Note its oval shape and the stand that is mdd for it. It is painted on a white slip with other earth colors completing the geometrics. Tavo is the master of the carving technique, and combines elegant shapes, carved areas and beautiful paint in his designs. Such rich texture and visual appeal!
