Animals are the advisers, doctors and assistants of the Hopi. Badger is the doctor for his knowledge of all the roots and herbs and how to administer them for healing. Badger known as Honan appears on 2nd Mesa and is a Chief Kachina. The Badger Kachina is responsible for the growth of herbs. Badger is known for his wisdom and his ability to cure the sick using herbal curing potions, in addition to prayers. The Badger Kachina is the recipient of prayers for the growth of healing herbs.
