Carol Lucero Gachupin Jemez Pottery: Father and Mother Standing Storytellers with 7 Children

Carol Lucero Gachupin was born in Jemez Nov. 19, 1958, the daughter of Margarita Lucero. She is the sister of Mary R. Lucero and is related to Mary G. Romero (Laura Gachupin's mother) who taught her how to make pottery. Carol specializes in polychrome storytellers, jars and bowls, often in Hopi, Pueblo or Navajo styles. Carol is known for the sharpness of her lines on pottery decorations and the overall neatness of her work.

The present offering is a beautiful, very expressive pair of standing mother and father storytellers singing to their seven children. The painting on this pot is stunning, with very detailed depictions of pottery held by the children as well as the clothing of all figures. The sculpture stands 9.75 inches tall and is 5 inches wide.
