Original Seed Pot Sharon Naranjo Garcia Santa Clara Pot
Sharon Garcia is an award-winning potter from Santa Clara whose productive output includes carved and plain redware and blackwrae seed jars, vases, bowl water jars, and wedding vases., Her work has been distinguished with awards in many prestigious competitions such as the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show and the Santa Fe Indian Market.
Sharon was taught the craft of creating magnificent works of art from clay by her grandmother Christina Naranjo and in turn she has taught her craft to her sister, Judy Tafoya.
The carving in the present vase bursts with originality of design as Sharon gives an Avanyu wrapped around the pot, a bird figure in matt, geometric designs, and surfaces that are alternating polished and matte. Note the truly original, pointed shape of this rendition of a seed pot. The pot is signed by Sharon.
